To write a song about someone, we have to ask personal questions. This page explains what we keep, why, who else sees it, and how to have it deleted.

1. What we collect

Your answers. The names, stories and details you give us about the person the song is for, and about you.

Your voice, if you use the microphone. We keep the recording and write down what you said, so you can check it before we use it.

Photos, if you add them for a memory video.

Your name and email address, so we can send you the song and sign you in.

Your orders: what you bought, when, and the songs, words and artwork we made for you.

Payment details go straight to our payment provider. We don't see or store your full card number.

2. How we use it

We use what you tell us to write, record and deliver your song. Your stories, your voice and your photos are never published, sold, or turned into an advertisement.

We email you about your order. Some emails are optional, like reminders before a date you told us about. Every optional email has a link that stops them in one click.

3. Who else sees it

Only the small team working on your song.

We also use outside services to do parts of the work: writing and recording the song, making the artwork, writing down voice answers, storing files, sending email, taking payment and seeing how the site is used. They get only what they need for that job.

We don't share your email address, except a coded copy sent to Meta when you buy a song, so we can tell which advertisement led to the order. Meta does not receive the address itself.

4. Your song's page

Each song has a private page with its own link. Anyone you send the link to can open it, so share it with the people you want to hear it.

We won't publish your song or use it as an example without asking you first.

5. Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in, and two small ones that remember you have already bought a song, so the site stops showing you offers meant for new visitors.

We use PostHog to see how people use the site, so we can find and fix the parts that confuse them. It records the pages you visit and what you click, and saves it with a cookie of its own. Anything you type, like your answers, your email and sign-in codes, is hidden in these recordings.

On the public pages we use Meta's pixel. It sets its own cookies and records that you viewed a page, started the questions, opened the payment page, or bought a song. With each of those we also send Meta the usual technical details of the visit, such as your IP address and browser. When you buy, we send the amount and a coded form of your email as well, so the sale is still counted if your browser blocks the pixel. We do not send Meta your answers, your voice, your photos, or the song. The pixel is not loaded once you are signed in.

We use Microsoft Clarity to see how people move through the site. It records the pages you open, what you click, and a playback of the visit, and it sets cookies of its own.

6. Seeing and deleting your data

Once your song is delivered, you can ask us to delete what you gave us. Email hello@songsofus.com from the address you ordered with.

7. Changes to this page

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Our terms cover the rest of how ordering works.

Questions about any of this? Email hello@songsofus.com and a person will reply. You can also read how it works.
